One of our reader's asked if a PanelView800 can connect to a 5380.
I did a little research and here's what I found:
The latest manual (2018) for the PV800 states:
"CompactLogix 5370 L1 controller is supported only in PanelView 800 terminals with firmware revision 3.011 or later. CompactLogix 5370 L2 and L3 controllers are supported only in PanelView 800 terminals with firmware revision 4.012 or later. Connected Components Workbench Release 9 or later software is also required."
And the knowbase states:
"The PanelView 800, 2711R, does not support the 5069 and 5380 series controllers."
So as of today it looks like the PV800 does not support the 5380, but the good news is that it does seem to now support all 5370's (initially I believe it only supported the L1.

Like our previous article, we will use the same project file for this article. First, open your project and right-click on Alarm and Event Server as shown in the below window...
I discuss a reader's question about if you can collect data from a MicroLogix which is already communicating with an HMI using Modbus RTU by using a 1761-NET-AIC in this episode of The Automation Minute.
