Back from my travels

Good morning,

I just wanted to stop by and quickly update the community on my content plans for the coming weeks.

First things first, as you can imagine I have lots of emails and voicemails to dig through :-) I also have three podcast recordings scheduled with vendors this week, including Balluff, Eaton, and CaPow. That will make seven podcasts I need to edit (this week's unsponsored Rockwell episode is already done and uploaded.)

Next on the list is a reworking of TheAutomationBlog.com. While I'd love to jump back into the daily news show, I feel I need to redesign the website to better differentiate between news, my shows, and our 1400 how-to articles.

I also need to produce eGuides from the products I've covered the most. Creating a full blown eBook for ControlLogix was a monumental task, so instead of taking months to do that several times over for other products, I'm going to create $4.99 eGuides which are PDF compilations of my articles, and I'll be sure to make them available for free each month to $5 supporters here on Locals.

Once the website and content has been updated, I'm then going to work on streamlining the daily news show - I need to reduce the time it takes to produce it from 5+ hours to 3 hours, as I want to use some of the saved time to produce snips from the show, as well as have more time for lesson creation. One way I'll do this is by livestreaming the show as that will eliminate the editing and uploading steps.

I also want to update the Automate.News website, but that may have to wait until right before I relaunch the news show since I'll need some new content to test the site with.

As far as new episodes of The Automation Show, Minute, and Tech Tips, they are very time consuming to produce, so I expect the only new episodes I'll be creating are when the vendors are willing to send in a sample and sponsor the episode - similar to my recent Red Lion, Moxa, and Siemens episodes.

Instead I'll first be focusing on new school wide lessons for my S7 and Ultimate A-B PLC courses, after which I'll start filming the actual Ultimate PLC course lessons for each course.

And that's the plans as they stand now. As to when the daily show will return, I'd guess between 2 to 4 weeks to get the website and guides done, and I'll keep everyone updated here on the progress at least once a week.

Thanks as always for your support, and have an awesome week!

Shawn

    o YouTube.com/@InsightsIA
    o Linkedin.com/company/InsightsIA

  • This means I will be focusing my efforts on the membership programs at:
    o https://TheAutomationBlog.com/join
    o https://YouTube.com/@InsightsIA/join

  • These Memberships are already available at the $5, $10, and $25 levels

The rest of the story:

When I originally launched Automation.Locals.com, I had hoped that it was going to grow into a new platform that would make it a perfect place to grow a new community. But after trading several long emails with their staff over the last several months, I’ve come to the conclusion that for my community to grow it’s going to be necessary to migrate to another platform.

That’s not to say I’m...

Happy New Year!

Thank you for making my content the #MostViewed in all of #IndustrialAutomation with well over 100K actual views (not impressions) per month, which is greater than the largest automation websites with dozens of employees and millions in revenue!

I have lots of exciting things planned for 2025, including for our new members, and invite you all to come see what I'm working on throughout 2025 at TheAutomationBlog.com and TheAutomationSchool.com

My God Bless You and Yours with Good Health and Happiness in 2025!!!

Sincerely,

Shawn Tierney
